Validating windows xp product key
Hi Despite my ASUS notebook having the original WIN7 product key sticker on the bottom of it, I keep getting validation failure mesage.I presume its because I did a hard drive replacement 3 months ago, but my recovery DVD's did not work ( just got stuck halfway through the installation despite me leaving it installing overnight ) when I re-installed Win 7, so I used a genuine win7 disk previously received with a different new PC.If anyone thinks there is a chance this can be resolved without me having to completely re-install I'll send through the MGSdiag report with a new post.Help appreciated Cheers Mike System Manufacturer/Model Number "Egg & Chips" Build it yourself from bits OS win 7 home P CPU AMD Athlon 64 dual core 4200 Motherboard asus Memory 1gb Graphics Card Nvidia Geforce 6100 Sound Card motherboard Monitor(s) Displays techncika 22" Screen Resolution 1440x900 I should also mention that the windows 7 disk I used for the re-instal was an original ASUS Recovery Media, just not issued with the Notebook in question ( its from 2009 ).Is there any quick way to check whether a product key has been used or not? EDIT: I have found a piece of software which checks if the product key is valid, but not sure if the information displayed shows if the product key is already activated (refer to screenshot section on the link)...(Without going through the install and activation process). The link to the software I found is at since you asked about not having to go through the activation process again.

I used the right product code ( the one on the sticker on my notebook ) & all went ok.
Now I keep getting the validation failure message & re-inputting the code continues to give a failure message after it tries to validate.
I have Gateway AIO almost 2 years old and recently after the latest Windows updates I got this problem. Thanks, Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0): ----------------------------------------- Windows Validation Data--Seems this is a common problem.
Tried several things, and tried MS support, to no avail.
